Father Dadello is continuing the Polish tradition of Kolęda visits. During the weeks following Christmas he will be blessing homes. Everyone, even if they are not a member of the parish, is encouraged to call him at (315) 823-0793 to schedule a visit and a blessing of their home.

Polka Fest 2011

Featuring great food and Tony’s Polka Band. Saturday, September 24th from 1-5pm at the East Herkimer Fish and Game Club, Pine Grove Road, East Herkimer, NY (follow the signs). The menu includes kielbasa sandwiches, rye bread, kapusta, pierogi, and gołąbki. Advanced sale tickets $7, $8 at the door. Polish Heritage Celebration at Chancellor Park

The Utica Observer Dispatch features a gallery of photos from the Polish Heritage Celebration at Chancellor Park, part of Utica Monday Nite on August 1st. Our very own Janice Kupidlowski-Rogers and Karen Filipski are shown serving the wonderful Polish food we were offering. Our Parish Chairman, John Rogers is shown enjoying a Polka with Julie Jacobs.

Polish food sales July – September 2011

The parish will be selling Polish food during the following events:

July 15th, Little Falls Bicentennial Celebration in Eastern Park, Little Falls from 7-9pm featuring Tony’s Polka Band.

Aug. 1st, Utica Monday Night, Chancellor Park at Bleecker & Kent, Utica starting at 6:30pm featuring Ed, Bill and the Boys Polka Band.

Sept. 24th, Holy Spirit’s Polka Fest 2011 at the E. Herkimer Fish and Game Club from 1-5pm featuring Tony’s Polka Band.

Ham and Roast Pork Dinner

A Tradition Continued – Blessing of Homes

Fr. Rafal is continuing the tradition of blessing homes during the period between Christmas and The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, February 2nd which is the Polish feast day Matki Boskiej Gromnicznej.

The visit by the priest to bless the home of the faithful is known as Kolęda. This word is derived from a similar Polish word which refers to Christmas carols and hymns. In Poland, carolers would stroll through the towns and villages, singing the beautiful hymns to share the message of peace, love and salvation that was brought to the world by the birth of the Christ child in Bethlehem. Christmas decorations in the U.S. often appear before Thanksgiving and are gone shortly after New Year’s Day. The Polish tradition is to decorate at the end of Advent and to enjoy the beauty of the decorations into February. Thus the true meaning of Christmas is carried well into the New Year. Homemade Polish Food Sale and Blessing Of Pets

On Saturday October 16th our parish will be having its annual fall Polish Food sale at the church. The sale will begin at 10:00 and will go until sold out. Father Dadello will also be blessing pets at noon that day. All are welcome.

Polish Heritage Celebration during Utica Monday Night

On Monday August 2nd, members of the Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Church, PNCC, of Little Falls raised funds to support their small parish by selling Polish food at the Utica Monday Night celebration in Chancellor Park. This is the fourth year that the congregation provided the cuisine during this festive event. The beautiful weather helped to produce a large turnout. Those in attendance enjoyed the music of Jasiu Klocek and the Salt City Brass.

During the 2010 Little Falls Canal Celebration members of the church will be selling kielbasa and kapusta sandwiches in front of Rick’s Style Inn, 580 Main St. Little Falls on Friday August 13th from approximately 5 to 7. On Saturday August 14th from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday August 15th from 12:00 p.m. until sold-out, the parish will be selling homemade pierogi, kapusta, kielbasa and other Polish food at the church on 618 E. Gansevoort St. Little Falls. Meals will be served in the parish hall. Takeout meals and frozen pierogi will also be available.

On Saturday September 18th the church will be hosting its annual Polka Fest from 1 to 5 at the East Herkimer Fish and Game Club. Tony’s Polka Band will be playing. A full menu of homemade Polish food will be served.

Holy Mass is normally celebrated at the church on 618 E. Gansevoort St., Little Falls at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. People of all ethnicity and backgrounds are welcome. Holy Mass is celebrated in English though Polish hymns are often sung. To learn more about the parish please call Fr. Rafal Dadello at 315-823-0793.
