As the Christmas season approaches, we members of the Holy Spirit PNCC would like to offer our prayers to all our loved ones, relatives, friends and to the community.

It can be difficult to focus on the true meaning of Christmas while being overwhelmed by the commercialism and the greeting of “Happy Holidays”, that too often represent Christmas today. The birth of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior must be our focus. The message of the Good News proclaimed by our Lord and his apostles should guide our thoughts and actions every day of the year.

May the Lord bless you with the gift of His perfect peace this Christmas and a sense of His presence in your heart every day of the New Year!

A Tradition Continued – Blessing of Homes

Fr. Rafal is continuing the tradition of blessing homes during the period between Christmas and The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, February 2nd which is the Polish feast day Matki Boskiej Gromnicznej.

The visit by the priest to bless the home of the faithful is known as Kolęda. This word is derived from a similar Polish word which refers to Christmas carols and hymns. In Poland, carolers would stroll through the towns and villages, singing the beautiful hymns to share the message of peace, love and salvation that was brought to the world by the birth of the Christ child in Bethlehem. Christmas decorations in the U.S. often appear before Thanksgiving and are gone shortly after New Year’s Day. The Polish tradition is to decorate at the end of Advent and to enjoy the beauty of the decorations into February. Thus the true meaning of Christmas is carried well into the New Year. Holy Spirit Holds Pet Blessing Ceremony

Fr. Rafal Dadello, pastor of Holy Spirit Polish National Catholic Church, blesses pets at the parish’s second annual pet blessings ceremony on Saturday, October 17th. People from the community joined members of the congregation at the church on 618 E. Gansevoort St. Little Falls for the ceremony. This custom is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi because of his love for all creatures. St. Francis’ feast day is October 4th.

Homemade Polish Food Sale and Blessing Of Pets

On Saturday October 16th our parish will be having its annual fall Polish Food sale at the church. The sale will begin at 10:00 and will go until sold out. Father Dadello will also be blessing pets at noon that day. All are welcome.

This Sunday is also Saint Valentine’s Day
